Electrical Engineering Intern - Spokane
Spees Design Build (SDB) is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team in Spokane, WA.
SDB is a design-build firm that specializes in providing Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing (MEP) engineering, and project management consulting services. We are a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business with offices in the Pacific Northwest and in the Southeast. We work in teams, tackle exciting projects, and enjoy a stimulating and collegial environment.
The Electrical Engineering Intern will be part of the dynamic A/E Design team within SDB’s Design-Bid-Build operations. This team is primarily involved in the design of various project types within the Veterans Affairs Medical Center systems throughout the western United States. The position collaborates with all other design discipline staff and will help build the team’s electrical engineering design department.
Candidates must understand electrical power, lighting, and special systems design for a variety of projects including but not limited to health care, higher education, data centers, mission-critical, and facility infrastructure.
You will be working with Electrical Engineers who are developing electrical and power distribution equipment specifications, as well as preparing electrical load calculations for single and three-phase loads. You will assist the Electrical Engineers with power system analysis tools to prepare electrical single-line drawings, schematics, and detail drawings as required.

Desired Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering field. The degree must be coming from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
- We prefer you have or plan to pursue an EIT license
- Management potential
- Comfortable working in small teams
- Ability to work efficiently independently
- Flexibility to work on a variety of tasks
- Hardworking and enthusiastic about learning
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to travel up to 20% for site visits and inspections
- Comfortable with prolonged periods of desk work and occasional lifting (up to 15 lbs)
- Up to a 40-hour work week
- $21/hour compensation for Undergraduates and $22 to $25 for Graduates
