Associate Attorney

Spence, Carter & Reed, P.A. is a fast-paced general practice law firm based in Smithfield, North Carolina. We primarily serve Johnston County and the surrounding counties. We prioritize fast and financially affordable legal services for our clients. Our firm is a general practice firm and our practice areas include: family law, estate and probate, civil and business litigation, business law, real estate law and basic criminal law (traffic).

Responsibilities:

· Provide legal representation to clients in matters, manage cases from initial consultation to final resolution as well as take over cases as assigned by the senior attorneys.

· Guide clients through the legal process while maintaining a balance between empathy and professionalism.

· Build and maintain long-term relationships by communicating with clients, other attorneys and court staff.

· Collaborate effectively with support staff to ensure our clients’ needs are being met and that all deadlines are being met.

· Draft legal documents, including but not limited to pleadings, motions, notices and briefs.

· Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies.

Qualifications & Education Requirements:

· Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admitted into the NC State Bar

· Demonstrate empathy and legal knowledge of the law

· Attention to details and ability to manage multiple cases at once

· Proficient in legal research

· Ability to work independently along with, ability to work well as a team.

· Must be able to multitask and effectively handle stressful environments.

The salary range for this role is competitive and will be based off the candidate’s legal experience and knowledge. Medical and Life insurance are both covered 100% by the firm at no cost to the employee. Our 401(k) benefits begin one (1) year after employment and will include a monthly contribution by the firm each month.

Spence, Carter & Reed, P.A. is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursdays, and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. We do expect our attorneys to work full-time in the office (Smithfield, NC) and the attorneys do at times work outside these hours to meet client needs and deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
