We are a fast-paced, growing construction company that delivers safety, quality, and on-time work, that specializes in heavy civil construction that includes earthwork, concrete work, steel erection and more. The ideal person will be highly organized, self-motivated, have a working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to assigned projects. We are seeking an experienced Underground Foreman to lead and supervise crews in the installation of underground utilities and infrastructure on heavy civil construction projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in underground utility work, leadership experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
To be a successful Underground Foreman, you must possess leadership skills and the skills necessary for the trade. Lead and direct crew to achieve daily and long-term goals. May operate a variety of equipment. Travel with short-term or long-term stays, night and weekend shifts may be required. We are looking for someone who can work varying shifts, if necessary, over weekends, and at night. You should also be physically fit and be able to stand for long periods of time, work on your feet or knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather. Essential Job Functions:
- Supervising and directing a crew of 5-15.
- Project budget management
- Lead crew to achieve daily and long-term goals
- Record time, material, quantity, etc. information into timecard using HCSS and iPad
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of underground crews including laborers, operators, and pipelayers.
- Plan, layout, and oversee the installation of water, sewer, storm drain systems, and other underground utilities.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, plans, and safety requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, cut sheets, and survey data.
- Coordinate with the Superintendent, Project Manager, subcontractors, and inspectors.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, crew timesheets, and production quantities.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct daily safety meetings, and proactively address hazards.
- Lead by example, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Monitor and adjust crew assignments to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Operate equipment as needed and assist with hands-on work during critical operations.
- Clearly communicate with and lead crew members to ensure safety, teamwork and completion of daily goals

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum 5 years of underground utility experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must pass a background check
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, trench safety, and confined space requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and survey layouts.
- Proficient in using grade checking tools, lasers, and levels.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions
- Lift, carry and hold building materials, tools and supplies
- Perform variety of functions such as dig, spread and level dirt, asphalt and gravel with a pick or shovel
- Maintain clean tools, equipment, materials and work areas
- Must be a safety conscious individual
- Be able to stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Frequently lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- See and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must pass a background check
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, and an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units.
- Experience with managing multiple projects with conflicting priorities.
- Experience budgeting projects and managing costs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate with verbally others on site, in person and over the telephone, ability to read printed materials, signs and directions, stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner. Will be required to work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment and other tools within local, state and federal safety guidelines. This position operates in a professional field environment. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris.
