Position Highlights
Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500 employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Our laboratory professionals perform a variety of testing services from basic wellness and pre-employment screenings to complex orders from physicians specializing in oncology, pathology and other medical disciplines.
Spencer Hospital’s laboratory is certified under CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) and also participates in the American Association of Blood Bank’s quality certification program.

Schedule:
- Full-time benefit eligible
- 7:45p-6:15a
- 80 hours a pay period (4-10 hour shifts per week)
- Typically every 5th weekend
- Typically 2 holidays per year
- No call
- The schedule may fluctuate based upon needs of the department
Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of laboratory tests, some routine and some complex, of body fluids and other substances to provide data in the diagnosis or treatment of diseases
- Requires use of professional judgment
- Must have excellent communication skills, caring attitude and be a team player
Requirements:
- A Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or a related science, including 12 months training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing
- Possess an Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution and have at least two years training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing
- Certified as a Medical Technologist by a nationally recognized certifying agency showing competence as a medical laboratory technologist
- Current ASCP certification or equivalent preferred
