The Bid Engineer will assist in proposal activities for Grid Automation Solutions globally and will report to the Director of Tender Management. This position demands close cooperation and teamwork with Business Development, Sales, and Application Engineering teams worldwide during the project acquisition phase.
Your Impact
The successful candidate will excel by implementing key strategies and activities, such as:
- Developing proposals for EPCs and end clients within the domain of Protection and Control systems in high and medium voltage substations and control centers, covering both hardware and software.
- Ensuring the preparation of high-quality proposals that align with customer requirements within set deadlines.
- Examining customer technical specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of product and solution details.
- Working closely with technical experts both locally and internationally.
- Creating, editing, and writing original proposal responses and other sales-related documents.
- Keeping up-to-date with the assigned industry's structure, applications, terminology, trends, and issues.
- Understanding customers' main business objectives, operations, challenges, and needs.
- Validating and endorsing the technical aspects of the solutions offered in bids.
- Demonstrating critical thinking in resolving high-impact, complex, and/or multi-functional problems.
- Understanding the Transmission Utility market in relation to customer requirements, opportunities, and competition.
What You Bring
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Control System Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in bidding for substation control and protection systems in energy transmission and distribution.
- Demonstrated business acumen in balancing customer and business requirements, including financial, strategic, and tactical thinking.
- Effective technical and business communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written). Analytical, customer-centric approach with proven results.
- Strong understanding of the power distribution/transmission market and technologies, particularly in protection and control, HMI solutions, SCADA, and cybersecurity.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a strong desire to succeed.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% locally and internationally.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
