Responsibilities
The Senior Analyst, Import Operations will be responsible for managing the daily operations associated with Import Transportation administration and processes. The successful candidate will facilitate and communicate end-to-end transportation of shipments in a timely and effective manner.
- Act as a liaison between internal and external partners for shipment tracking
- Close interface with origin and destination points to ensure shipment schedules are met, and assess the impact of shipment delays on customers or operations
- Responsible for providing, updating, and maintaining reports needed for tracking of all inbound shipments
- Assist in developing and overseeing the key performance indicators (KPI’s) of the department
- Manage container free time to reduce demurrage/detention costs
- Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
- Responsible for end-to-end tracking of Import containers to final destination
- Daily management of Dray Operations for multiple ports
- Reviewing and monitoring Customs clearances and releases
- Ad-hoc projects and duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and minimum of two years Import/Export transportation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge and understanding of all service levels and their importance, along with the billing structures laid out in the contracts
- Proficient in Excel (formulas, and pivot tables)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, problem-solve, and multitask in a high pressure and quick decision-making environment
- Strong operational skills and acute attention to detail, including the ability to independently manage the day-to-day operations
- Ability to work flexible hours during peak season
- Knowledge of Import Terminology
