What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundperson/ Tree Climber Trainee position at Sperber Landscape Companies LLC?
We're looking for exceptional people for Groundperson/ Tree Climber Trainee positions. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be responsive to visual cues and hand signals from the climber and act promptly with ground support
- Keep the work area clear of debris, cleaning up limbs and branches as they are brought down
- Rake the area to maintain a clear safety zone
- Line up branches and pile them appropriately for loading into the chipper
- Keep tools in the staging area and safety zone
- Assure that all lines are clear at all times
- Be attentive to the climber’s cues throughout the job, always keeping your eyes on the climber
- Haul brush
- Other duties as assigned by Leadman and/ or other Branch Management
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to take direction from Leadman and other Branch Management, and ability to communicate effectively with other team members
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Must have reliable transportation to and from our shop in Belmont, MA and must be willing to work extended hours and weekends
Education and Experience/ Licenses:
- 1 year of tree work experience preferred
- Experience using chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, stump grinders and other power equipment preferred
- Valid MA Driver’s License a plus
- DOT medical card and a CDL A are a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand and walk long distances
- Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds
Job Type: Full-time, seasonal with the option to work during snow operations
Pay Range: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour depending upon experience
