Speridian Technologies is recruiting for a Senior Scrum Master, for our State of California Client- the Department of Healthcare Services, Behavioral Health. This person will be part of a long-term, fully budgeted, state-of-the-art, extremely vast, IT modernization project working with a variety of cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
This is a remote role, USA Only. There will be meetings in the Sacramento area several times a year. Ideally, candidates should be based within a 4-hour drive or fly time from the Sacramento, CA area.

What You’ll Do?Coaching and Teaching
- Ensuring the Scrum team understands Scrum theory and practice
- Helping the Scrum team focus on creating valuable increments that meet the Definition of Done each sprint
- Coaching the Scrum team in self-organization and cross-functionality
- Helping the team choose practices within the Scrum framework that are effective and aligned with Agile values and principles
- Creating an environment of trust and psychological safety to facilitate the development of a high-performing team
- Ensuring Scrum events occur, are timeboxed, are positive and productive
- Facilitating and supporting stakeholder collaboration, and any other desired sessions helpful for the team to perform at its highest level
- Ensuring the work is visible and Scrum artifacts are transparent
- Helping the Scrum team be accountable to its commitments to its goals and to supporting each other
- Causing the removal of impediments to team progress, both directly and by coaching the team to remove them
- Preserving the Scrum team’s ability to focus on meeting their sprint commitments by addressing outside distractions
- Working with the product owner to ensure the product backlog is healthy and backlog items are clear and concise
- Helping the wider organization understand and use an empirical approach to complex work
- Removing barriers between the Scrum team and stakeholders
- Supporting and advising Scrum implementations in the organization
- A desire to impact lives positively, and a passion for making a difference
- A mindset driven by purpose and always measured by impact
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Scrum Master role
- Basic scrum master certification required (CSM, PSM 1)
- Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Fluency with cloud-based collaboration tools (Slack, Jira, Confluence, etc)
- Basic fluency with software engineering concepts and technology
- Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced agile certifications (A-CSM, PSM 2 or higher)
- Familiarity with additional agile and lean frameworks (Extreme Programming, BDD, FDD, Kanban) is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in other roles on agile teams (development, product)
- Demonstrated experience in a complex, multi-team work environment
