Structural Design Engineer – Job Description

Job Overview:
The Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and detailing of structural components for the a Nuclear Project. This role involves working with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure the structural integrity of buildings, equipment foundations, and supporting infrastructure in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze structural systems, including steel, reinforced concrete, and composite structures.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and structural specifications.
- Perform seismic, wind, and load analysis to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop and review detailed structural drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM software.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes such as AISC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, DOE, and NRC requirements.
- Work closely with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers to integrate structural elements into overall project designs.
- Provide technical support for construction teams to resolve field issues related to structural designs.
- Conduct structural assessments and inspections during construction to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
- Assist in the preparation of procurement documents and construction work packages.
- Perform load calculations, foundation designs, and connection detailing for nuclear facility structures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of five years of experience in structural design for industrial, nuclear, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAADPro, RISA 3D, SAP2000, or ANSYS.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM tools for structural detailing.
- Strong understanding of load calculations, seismic analysis, and dynamic structural behavior.
- Familiarity with government and industry regulations, including DOE and NRC standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred or ability to obtain one.
- Experience in nuclear, defense, or government-regulated projects.
- Knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel, and composite structural systems.
- Familiarity with seismic qualification and structural dynamics.
- Experience with Primavera P6 or other project scheduling tools.
Salary : $60 - $85
