What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adolescent Nurse position at Spero Family Services?
Spero is a multi-faceted social service agency that offers more than 10 programs to individuals, children, and families across the region. Our mission here at Spero is to offer hope, help and healing by providing Christ-centered human services to meet the ever-changing needs of individuals, families and communities.
Our Residential Treatment Programs provide intensive treatment to youth ages 12-21 to address their trauma. Youth in these programs reside on our campus and receive services from a multidisciplinary treatment team with the goal of stepping down to a less restrictive environment. As the Adolescent Nurse you will oversee the medical needs of clients and program(s) as assigned and ensure compliance with governing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Services: Oversee prescription medication, particularly psychotropic drugs, and administration for clients and programs as assigned. Duties may include ensuring prescriptions are up-to-date, overseeing staff in regards to self-administration of medications by youth, acting as an advocate for the youth and their needs, and case management between physicians, government agencies, and Spero clinical and program staff.
- Exams and Appointments: Assist in the scheduling and coordination of all medical and psychiatric exams and appointments for clients and program(s) as assigned. Duties may include required physician admission physicals, coordinating cancellations, and assisting with transportations.
- Education: Provide group and individual education to clients regarding medication, illness, sexuality, and other health related topics.
- Training: Assist in providing medical in-service trainings for agency staff as necessary and/or needed. Provide training and education for other health related topics.
- Documentation: Ensure all documentation and reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner. Duties may include Medicaid documentation, Healthworks paperwork, client consents, and medication logs.
- Other: Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid Illinois LPN license, and a valid Illinois driver’s license. Valid Illinois RN license and adolescent nursing experience preferred.
Skills: Must be organized, able to multi-task, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and detail oriented. Must be able to interact with, and relate to, diverse groups of people. Must have the ability to perform crisis de-escalation using the TCI Model.
Miscellaneous: Must pass all pre-employment drug screens and background clearances. Must maintain driving clearances.

Pay: $24.20 - $25.64 per hour
