Role
Responsible for the functions related to timely and accurate financial reporting. Assists the VP of Finance with internal and external financial reporting, credit union annual budget and other assignments as determined.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
*Prepares and oversees preparation of financial and statistical records for the Credit Union; Provides data and recommendations for budgeting and planning. Provides and maintains branch profitability, tax reporting, NCUA Call Report, allowance for credit loss calculation and other specials projects as assigned.
*Oversee the accurate, timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, interest bearing (deposits), monthly financial packet, annual budgets, profitability, and planning. Assists the Controller and VP of Finance with issuing financial statements and related reporting.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience: 2-5 years of experience in banking required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) in Finance or Accounting.
Other Skills: Knowledge of accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America, basic characteristics of financial assets and liabilities, and basic statistical analysis. Ability to work standard personal computers (including peripheral equipment), ten-key calculator, typing 30-40 words per minute, view a computer terminal for varying periods of time, and to learn and retain the proper use of office equipment, including facsimile machines and photocopies. Must be able to work with various PC software. Strong ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents; performs complex calculations; effectively researches, analyzes and evaluates information to make decisions, solve problems and achieve goals; strong project management skills desired.
*Maintain knowledge with training in BSA Compliance - every staff member is required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Identification Program (CIP), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies and procedures. This includes required BSA reporting. Specific functions such as tellers and front-line staff within Spero Financial will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department and report such activity. In addition to any other assigned training courses, BSA, CIP, OFAC and AML related courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Departments. Required to maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control requirements. Comply with all Spero policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations.
