Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. This role requires a strong understanding of governmental and public accounting practices, as well as proficiency in Quickbooks, experience with Gusto (payroll) is a plus. The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in supporting our client's financial operations and contributing to the overall success of their organizations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation and prepare monthly financial statements.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing and payment tracking.
- Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with technical accounting tasks as needed, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
- Record debits and credits accurately in the general ledger accounting system.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
- Prepare reports for management review, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.
- Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial transactions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably in public accounting settings, with a focus on small, closely held businesses.
- Strong knowledge of balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable, payroll processing, and general ledger accounting.
- Familiarity with GAAP standards and technical accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks or similar accounting software is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not required; relevant experience will be considered.
