Human Resources Generalist for SphereMD

About this position

In this position you will perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to talent acquisition and recruiting, compensation, benefits and leave, disciplinary matters and investigations, performance management, recognition and morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development. You will also support a company culture focused on empowering employees in an inclusive environment

This position also serves as a resource and regularly consults with managers and employees on various human resources best practices and issues of a complex nature. This position receives only general direction toward the accomplishment of major HR programs or project objectives and operates with independence and discretion in making decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources- 50%

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions. Administers the pre-employment requirements and collaborates with the hiring manager. Develops recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels. Manages relations with outside agencies that may be utilized.
  • Administers employee IT onboarding in Microsoft Office 365, company domain and system platforms, office alarm, and other services including parking.
  • Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization. Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine FLSA classification and appropriate salary range.
  • Maintains the Employee Handbook and other human resources procedures. Identifies opportunities for efficiencies and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintains and updates employee records and the related retention schedule. Maintains confidentiality of employee information.
  • Manages and administers employee benefit programs including health insurance, 401(k) and pension plans and assists with the annual benefits review process. Provides training to employees on benefit offerings to optimize employee usage during open enrollment and new employee onboarding. Provides benefits reporting to managers.
  • Oversees payroll process utilizing Paylocity and completes payroll as necessary.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Prepares and submits government reporting as required to ensure compliance.
  • Assists managers with the performance management process including goal setting, performance expectations, providing constructive feedback and maintaining documentation.
  • Assesses company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees.
  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures. Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting. Provides administrative support to the safety committee. Reviews accident and incident reports and administers the worker's compensation program.
  • Collects and compiles HR metrics and data. Analyzes data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, turnover, and compensation. Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture.

Employee Relations- 45%

  • Plans company events including a summer BBQ and creates and manages team building activities.
  • Arranges employee birthday and work anniversary celebrations.
  • Manages employee celebration calendar and ensures needed supplies including treats are available.
  • Acts as an internal advisor to the management team guiding HR regulations and processes. Coaches managers and employees on resolving employee relations issues.
  • Provides support and guidance to management and employees when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise. May be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave, modified work schedules, and other attendance matters.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings and terminations.

Office Management (HQ)- 5%

  • Manages office supplies inventory.
  • Manages food pantry stock.
  • Interfaces with the landlord about maintenance, compliance, or other non-financial issues.
  • Interfaces with vendors and contractors performing work in offices.
  • Follows financial control policy when expenditures are required.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attends meetings and other events.
  • May perform other duties as needed.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HR Expertise: 5-7 years of human resources experience, with a strong understanding of HR best practices.
  • Integrity & Confidentiality: Demonstrates professionalism, ethical decision-making, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Professionalism & Ethics: Commitment to upholding professional, ethical business practices and aligning with company values.
  • HR Program Management: Experience designing, implementing, and providing day-to-day management of HR programs.
  • Talent Acquisition: Experience with talent acquisition, recruiting strategies, and candidate evaluation.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Paylocity.
  • Workplace Culture: Passion for fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Decision-Making & Influence: Strong judgment with the ability to positively influence team decisions and advocate for collaborative problem-solving.
  • Leadership & Engagement: Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage employees at all levels while working effectively with diverse communities.
  • Employee Development: Proven success in creating and implementing programs for employee development, engagement, retention, and recognition.
  • Project & Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Success in completing projects within expected time-frames.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to understand business goals and recommend innovative HR approaches, policies, and procedures to enhance productivity and support company objectives.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication abilities, with confidence in presenting in both formal and informal settings.

Desired Qualifications

  • Human Resources certification through SHRM or HRCI.
  • Experience in a clinical setting.

Additional Information:

This position will work out of our Vancouver, WA office. This is a fulltime role, working 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday with flexible hours and a salary range of $60,000-$70,000 per year, depending on experience. This is not a remote position.
