What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Engineer position at Spherion Birmingham?
Our company, is seeking a Product Engineer. Key job duties include but are not limited to :
- Aid in the design and manufacture of engineered products. Develop designs to satisfy customer needs while considering factors such as strength, weight, cost of materials, corrosion and other recommendations to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Promote Pipe Products by assisting in writing specifications and gathering information on forthcoming construction projects through calls to water utilities, consulting engineers and authorized distributors.
- Develop a high level understanding of FMB product application and provide opinions on production application suitability.
- Confers with producers of materials such as metals, ceramics, or polymers during investigation and evaluation of materials suitable for specific product applications.
- Reviews product failure data and interprets laboratory tests to establish or rule out material and process causes.
- Provide training for the sales team and customers for FMB products and applications related to Treatment Plant supply and operation.
- Reviews customer specifications to provide the correct product and cost to meet their needs, including answering any questions that they may have on the product. Designs may need to be conveyed to the customer with a submittal / drawing.
- Travel, including international, to meet with customers, industry trade shows and troubleshoot field issues.
Utilizes Microsoft Excel, Word and JDE. Must have basic computer skills and the ability to expand computer knowledge as required with company provided training. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field. Entry level position.
Candidates must have the ability to work independently, have strong organizational skills and initiative while working with the group.
