What are the responsibilities and job description for the MACHINE OPERATOR position at Spherion?

Spherion Staffing is searching for a machine operator to work a temp to perm position at one of our clients located in North Ogden.

The hours are 6 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM Monday-Thursday with some overtime on Fridays.

Machine operators will perform a number of important duties, from maintaining the equipment

to checking the quality of the products the machine creates.

Responsibilities :

Performs typical machine shop and mold press operations to support the assembly floor.
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts.
Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks : milling, turning, drilling, taping, de-burring, molding and all bench operations and inspect.
Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up.
Required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Skills :

Previous experience as machine operator preferred.

Must work well with others

Must be able to read a tape measure.

Must be able to read and use simple math

Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Required to stand for long periods of time.

Frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Safety Awareness - will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and the noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Must have the ability to hear alarms and

audibly identify dangers or hazards when working in production areas.
