LRE Water is seeking a Principal Scientist with expertise in groundwater modeling and hydrogeologic principles. This role requires leadership in managing groundwater modeling projects, overseeing data analysis, and contributing to business development efforts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of hydrogeology and be recognized as a subject matter expert in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Groundwater Modeling Expertise: Lead all groundwater modeling activities within the Southwest Business Unit, including design, development, production, and testing.
- Data Management & Reporting: Manage data analysis, produce maps/graphics, and ensure the quality of deliverables. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and regulatory documents.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert in groundwater modeling and hydrogeology. Present technical information at conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
- Project Management: Oversee scope of work, monitor project timelines and budgets, and supervise subcontractors. Lead internal and external teaming arrangements.
- Business Development: Develop new client business, assist in proposal development, and contribute to marketing strategies. Build relationship capital with clients through project work and networking events.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor and train junior staff, oversee performance assessments, and lead efficiency initiatives. Support the financial management of projects and ensure profitability.
- 15 years of experience in hydrogeology and groundwater modeling.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent licensure preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proficiency in groundwater modeling software (MODFLOW, MODFLOW-USG, MODFLOW 6, FLO-PY, etc.) and programming (Python, MATLAB, R).
- Strong communication skills for technical reporting and client interactions.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management experience in the field of groundwater modeling.
