Location: Fort Collins, CO (Hybrid Work Option)

Compensation: $32.50 - $39.72 per hour (negotiable based on experience)

LRE Water is seeking a Taxonomist to join our team. This role focuses on assessing stream health through taxonomic identification and analysis of western U.S. species. You will manage fieldwork, lead projects, collaborate with regulatory agencies, and mentor junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical: Identify macroinvertebrates, lead MMI analysis, manage fieldwork, conduct habitat assessments, and prepare regulatory reports.
• Project Management: Meet project deadlines, monitor budgets, and provide status updates.
• Business Development: Build professional networks and assist in proposal development.
• Leadership & Client Service: Suggest operational improvements, deliver high-quality service, and foster professional growth.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience: 5 years in macroinvertebrate taxonomy or related fields.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or environmental science (Master’s/Ph.D. preferred).
• Technical Skills: Strong computer skills and experience with statistical software.
• Licensure: Valid Driver’s License; certification in taxonomy for western U.S. required within 6 months.
