As part of our commitment to professional development, we cover the costs of continuing education and training programs.

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and overseeing civil engineering projects, ensuring they meet regulatory standards, client specifications, and project objectives. The Project Engineer will collaborate with project teams to develop innovative solutions and deliver high-quality designs within budget and schedule constraints. This role will primarily focus on the technical aspects of projects, working closely with the Project Manager to develop design concepts that are incorporated into the final product by staff designers.

Typical Duties:

  • Participate in the study & report, preliminary design, final design, bidding, and construction phases of selected projects.

  • Develop detailed designs, plans, and specifications for civil engineering projects, including site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and roadways.

  • Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and environmental assessments to inform design decisions.

  • Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software to create accurate engineering drawings and models.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client specifications throughout the design process.

  • Conduct technical reviews and provide recommendations for design improvements and optimizations.

  • Prepare cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and construction schedules to support project planning and budgeting.

  • Prepare change orders, review pay applications, and prepare construction close-out documents.

  • Perform site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.

Company Achievements and Reputation: SPI is the trusted engineer of record for numerous cities and counties across Texas. Our commitment to the community is evident in our quality of life projects such as water and wastewater treatment plants. As civil engineers, we understand the importance of these projects in enhancing the communities we serve.

Why SPI? At SPI, we believe in Service, Trust, Accountability, and Respect. These core values guide everything we do and are the foundation of our collaborative and team-oriented culture.
