POSITION SUMMARY
This position is for a full-time Crew Chief working out of our Saginaw, St. Johns, East Lansing, Byron Center, Bingham Farms, Standish, and/or Manistee offices or Georgia location. The Crew Chief will plan and evaluate proposed field survey projects, manage the field survey teams, prepare, process, and coordinate the required design survey work, construction staking, and other complex surveying tasks.

- Participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers
- Gathers field survey data through use of conventional and Global Navigation Satellite Systems
- Operates survey equipment to measure distance, elevations, and angles
- Prepares neat & clear field notes and drawings and maintains field data records
- Performs simple and complex field surveying activities, including construction layout, precision industrial layout, design survey mapping, conventional traverses, GNSS network observations and utility inventories
- Support static LiDAR, mobile LiDAR, airborne LiDAR, UAV, and bathymetric projects throughout Michigan and across the United States
- Performs complex surveying calculations and analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy
- Assumes responsibility for the company vehicle and survey equipment and oversees equipment maintenance and inventory and ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in surveying with summer co-op experience OR 4 years as an independent crew chief with varying experience in different aspects of surveying
- Up for a challenge, work hard, and enjoy being a part of a high-performance team
- Easily communicate with coworkers and clients orally and in written form
- Able to travel with approximately 25% of workload being out of town
- Perform physically demanding work in all types of weather
