What are the responsibilities and job description for the Turf Sales Specialist position at Spikes and Houles Feed Stores?
Spikes and Houles Feed Store in Stillwater, MN is hiring a Sales Specialist dedicated to our Lawn and Turf department. If you enjoy sales and working with customers to create and maintain the lawn and garden of their dreams, this may be the opportunity for you! In this role, you will complete a variety of customer service functions and specialize in sales with high level product knowledge. Each day you will greet customers and provide appropriate solutions and alternatives to ensure the customer is satisfied. You'll be cross trained in other departments to assist with all areas of the store.
Not a Lawn or Turf expert? We provide product training. This is a full-time, year-round position that offers a supportive and motivated team.

What will my day look like as the Lawn and Turf expert?
- Creating and maintaining a warm, inviting, easy-to-navigate shopping environment.
- Helping and affirming customers in finding the product specific to their wants/needs.
- Keep store and yard neat and organized, following all safety policies to ensure safety of staff and guests.
- Processing sales including cashiering, input of orders using POS system, set up and tracking deliveries (in departments where applicable).
- Use inventory management system (Eagle) to maintain appropriate stocking levels.
- Delivering an exceptional consumer shopping experience that leaves guests feeling inspired, enabled, affirmed, and eager to return.
- Ensuring accurate pricing and signage for product merchandise.
- Assist with merchandising of product based on seasonality/promotions, etc.
- Continuing product education to provide the most valuable experience to customers.
- Provide coaching and professional development to team member sales associates to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.
- Work well independently, resolve problems, relate well with various types of individuals, exercise good judgment, and work cooperatively in a team.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
1. Excellent customer service skills and one-year previous sales experience.
2. Organized with high attention to detail
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
