Landscape Construction Foreman
Spillane’s Nursery & Landscape Co. Inc. seeks a full-time experienced Landscape Construction Foreman to assist in the installation of large commercial properties as well as high end residential installations. This is a full time, leadership driven position that involves managing crews up to 12 people during the installation of projects. Job duties can be found below.
Duties and Functions:
- Oversee truck/ tools/ machines and men on a daily basis
- Track Daily/ Project Man Hours via Daily Job Sheets
- Manages and works with crews to ensure quality installation of plant material, hardscape and other aspects of construction.
- Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by inspecting work site; establishing and enforcing organization standards; adhering to legal regulations.
- Needs to be competent in heavy machinery operation. Hydraulic excavator, skid steer and loader specifically. Should be very familiar with grading and shaping materials to finish grades. 2A1C is required.
- Needs to be able to read topographical and landscape plans
- Needs to have significant experience with handling and identifying different types of tree and shrub stock.
- Assist with the preparation of man hours/ bids by calculating labor, equipment, materials, and overhead costs; obtaining approval necessary on current and future properties.
- Completes work by scheduling jobs; scheduling and assigning employees; monitoring work results; conferring with supervisor.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in necessary trade shows/ seminars.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
