Job description: Exterior Body Mechanism Engineer I
- Design and develop Exterior Trim components related to: Wipers, Mirrors, Windshield Glass, etc. We call these parts Body Mechanism parts. They are challenging to develop due to regulations, function, movement and design.
- We need passionate engineers who want to be responsible for developing our future vehicles
- The parts you develop will be on vehicles you see on the road
- Perform design-releasing duties for N.A. based vehicle projects and manage Bill of Materials
- Use CATIA V5 and other engineering tools to create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings
- Estimate and create cost/mass targets for component parts
- Investigate quality, assembly and durability issues and make engineering improvements
- Support & interface with other engineering and design functions for vehicle development
- Review part/system performance and regulatory testing
- Participate in benchmarking activities
- Be a liaison between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters
- Assess field claims, customer feedback and other sources and recommend engineering improvements
- Study and interpret regulations and performance requirements
- Support advanced development of Body & Trim systems and components for future vehicles
- Travel up to 20% of time domestically and/or internationally: South Korea travel for training and early development and later North American plant travel for pre-production build support
- Familiarity with MS Office to prepare reports / spreadsheets as necessary to support project work
- Basic CAD and 3D design experience, but CATIA V5 experience is not required
- Self-motivated drive to learn more, do more, achieve more
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
