We are seeking a Program Specialist in our Residential Department

SPIN's Program Specialist supports individuals by supporting a team process where everyone is compassionate and aware of personal desires, needs and skill levels. The Program Specialist leads by example through coordinating a person centered team process, facilitating training, fostering staff growth, and encouraging a professional work environment.
Accountabilities of a Program Specialist in Residential
- Participates in and completes annual assessments to determine the chosen outcomes, needs, preferences and capabilities of the individual by gathering information and informing the individual about what to expect throughout the assessment process.
- Identifies the needs of the individual for community supports, working with the individual’s informal support system, and assisting with, or initiating, identified community connections including, but not limited to, other agencies.
- Supports the individual to develop and enhance friendships, family connections and other relationships by teaching skills, providing opportunities, and building on individual strengths and capabilities.
- Ensures all team members are informed of upcoming ISP meetings.
- Assists the individual in identifying advocacy issues by gathering information, reviewing and analyzing all aspects of the problem.
- Explores vocational and/or educational interests and aptitudes with individual, assists in preparing for job and/or school entry, directly supports employment and reviews opportunities for continued career growth.
- Implements, monitors and reports on the progress of each person’s individualized plan to achieve specific outcomes derived from individuals’ preferences, needs, and interests.
- Educates individuals, co-workers and community members about the individualized plan by providing information, positive support and training while maintaining standards of confidentiality and ethical practice.
- Actively participates in the review of the achievement of individual outcomes by maintaining accurate records and submitting records to appropriate sources in a timely fashion.
- Discusses findings and recommendations with the individual in a clear and understandable manner, following up on results and reevaluating the findings as necessary.
- Acts as a point person for Supports Coordinator to coordinate any meetings and communicate any necessary changes to the plan as needed.
- Collects, compiles and evaluates data derived from monthly and quarterly reports providing feedback via e-mail or other forms of communication to all team members.
Expectations of a Program Specialist in Residential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage a large caseload.
- Ability to work with a variety of people in various settings.
- Patience and flexibility is necessary.
- Proficient in MS Office and/or other Windows based programs.
The tools you need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Special Education or a related field with 2 yrs of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities ( preferred)
- Associates Degree in Psychology, Special Education or a related field or at least 60 credits and 4 years of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities.
- Valid driver's license with own vehicle and insurance.
