Job Summary:
The Spine Team Texas Medical Coder is responsible for insuring accurate and appropriate coding is maintained for all procedures and physicians. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Spine Team Texas. The Medical Coder reports directly to the Patient Financial Services Manager.

Job Responsibilities:
The Charge/Coding Poster will be responsible for ensuring superbills, orders, and operative reports are matched and coded correctly with the appropriate diagnosis codes and CPT codes. If there are questions, it is this position’s responsibility to communicate to the appropriate provider. The position is responsible for ensuring the appropriate diagnosis and CPT codes are coded and covered by the policies and guidelines of each payer (insurance carrier). The Charge Poster must balance all batches and charges to all the Provider’s schedules. During the end of the month, it is the responsibility of this position to balance all charges for the month to match the STT accounting department..

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Must be able to sit for long periods of time in a well-lit, air conditioned office environment. Must have ability to lift a minimum of 5 pounds. Must be able to work under pressure. Tasks involve no exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements & Position Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Coding Certificate required.
- Detail oriented and organizational skills.
- General knowledge of third party payors, collection laws and procedures.
- Experience posting payments and charges, and balancing the postings.
- Computer experience, typing and ability to operate calculator.
- Possess the ability to work productively, either independently or with other individuals.
- Proficient in communicating in the English language both written and verbally.
