Our firm has been engaged to help support the growth of one of the largest retailers in the music industry. Currently, they are looking to hire an Application Development Manager to support the VP of Application Development by providing hands-on leadership to a small team of developers focused on the design and development of core customer-facing applications. The focus initially will be on their eCommerce solution. Specifically, integrations, customizations, and added functionality to the new portal going live in Q1 2025.
This is a full-time direct hire position that will be on-site at their HQ in Exton, PA.
The Role You’ll Play
As the Application Development Manager, you will have end-to-end responsibility for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting multiple applications with significant business impact. This will involve meeting with the business stakeholders directly, gathering requirements / use cases, and then leveraging your internal development team as well as external partners and consultants to build and deliver the solution.
Guide application development projects and the development team toward achieving intended business results aligned with enterprise strategies.
Perform coding tasks, design work, and conduct regular code reviews.
Oversee the design and development of APIs, extensions, and front-end interfaces along with back-end integrations with varying levels of complexity.
Work collaboratively within an Agile team environment across concurrent projects.
Utilize company programming standards and techniques to ensure efficient code logic, data handling, and maintainability.
Provide advanced problem-solving support for one or more application modules.
Recommend enhancements to application development strategies, application usage, or processes by leveraging business process knowledge.
Validate project design, assess business impact, and resolve implementation issues.
Manage, coach, develop, and mentor professional staff, ensuring effective resource utilization.
Ensure development team compliance with technical procedures, quality controls, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain effective communication with business and technology partners.
Recruit, hire, lead, motivate, and coach team members to drive continuous performance improvement.
Review technical architecture of new and ongoing projects, prioritizing long-term simplicity, scalability, maintainability, security, and reliability.
Collaborate with technical operations and support teams to enhance deployment environment stability and reliability.
Manage and oversee outsourced development teams.
Background Profile :
This is an ideal opportunity for a sr / lead full-stack web application developer to lead and grow a small team and have end-to-end ownership of client-facing applications. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with a small development team and a track record of successfully coordinating with external development partners, service providers, and offshore development teams.
Seeking an individual equally adept at participating in coding and whiteboard design sessions as they are at collaborating effectively with business stakeholders to understand requirements and align solutions. The ability to bridge technical expertise with business acumen is crucial in this role.
5-6 years of web application development experience with MERN stack and / or Java. (eCommerce experience is a plus)
Front-end development experience in Javascript frameworks (React, next.js, Vue.js, etc.)
Database and integration experience using RESTful API, SQL, web services, and Azure.
Experience building and growing teams in a collaborative and team environment.
Experience managing both internal resources and, as needed, external contractors / vendors.
Highly organized, capable of managing multiple, complex tasks, and able to work with several groups at once.
Excellent facilitation skills are required to drive the resolution of complex business and technical problems. Must have strong problem-solving and follow-through skills.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills required.
Knowledge of IT service management principles
Preferred :
Experience working with iPaaS solutions like Boomi or Jitterbit.
Working experience in Azure (especially ADF)
Compensation :
140,000-$150,000 per year
