Job Description Summary:
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City is seeking an experienced certified Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (APP) to join our Integrated Advanced Primary Care team and provide members with high-quality treatment and diagnostic services. The ideal candidate is an intuitive healthcare professional whose diagnostic abilities are only matched by their concern for their staff and members. The person in the APP role will be responsible for meeting, assessing and diagnosing members in our care centers and providing them with healthcare services that meet our mission of the Quadruple Aim of driving down the total cost of care while providing high quality and improved medical outcomes through team-based care that takes in to account the member experience and staff well-being. They will be responsible for prescribing members with appropriate medication, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues and/or promote a healthier life. The right candidate will have a passion for providing diagnostic services to members and will enjoy working closely with Behavioral Health Clinicians, Health Coaches and other healthcare professionals in our organization.Job Description:
- Work with the primary healthcare team to provide members with high quality comprehensive primary medical care services
- Provide telemedicine in addition to in-person care
- Rotating on-call coverage for nights and weekends
- Leading team-based care and clinical huddles
- Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer members to specialists when appropriate
- Analyze reports, test results, medical records and examinations to diagnose condition of members and propose treatment options.
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
- Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up to date before prescribing medication/treatment.
- Provide advice to members for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing.
- Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
- Record complete and timely medical records in accordance with our policy
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience providing primary care and diagnostic/procedure services in a clinical setting
- Experience prescribing appropriate medications, treatments and health regimens to treat member health issues.
- Experience collaborating with specialists to explore patient health conditions and diagnose health issues.
- Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective member experiences with our organization.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- We are looking for a candidate with at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Primary Care role with knowledge of our integrated medical/behavior health care model
- Experience with billing, coding and documentation practices to meet Medicare requirements
- NP/PA degree from an accredited school
- National certification
- Current Kansas/Missouri License.
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing.
