This role will focus on:
The Engineering Manager will lead and direct the Process and Manufacturing Engineering team at Watson-Marlow, covering all product lines, including hose assemblies, peristaltic pumps, tubing, gasket products, and ASEPCO valves. You will champion and lead site manufacturing and process engineering resources, oversee new product introductions from Global NPI (New Product Innovation) and ensure robust processes and products transition into production. You will lead process improvement projects in collaboration with the VSMs (Value Stream Managers) and CI (Continuous Improvement) Team, driving excellence in manufacturing.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead and manage the Process and Manufacturing Engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
- Drive optimization of current processes and technology, exchanging best practices globally.
- Develop and implement best practices in Process and Manufacturing Engineering, including vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure alignment with the Operational Excellence Strategy, WMFTS global standards, regulations, and technical assurance requirements.
- Lead and collaborate on continuous improvement projects using appropriate tools and techniques with the VSMs and CI Team.
- Work with NPI teams to ensure efficient handover to WMAMI and that all manufacturing requirements are met.
- Lead site validation efforts for NPI, product transfer, and engineering changes.
- Design, develop, and deploy manufacturing cells to optimize production efficiency and workflow.
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering support and advice for regional factories and global Key Initiatives.
- Collaborate with VSMs and Finance to develop and forecast P&L and CapEx budgets.
- Develop and maintain project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales
- Collaborate with EHS & VSMs to improve work cells and processes to increase safety and enhance ergonomics.
- Manage, organize, and develop the WMAMI Engineering Team, including recruitment, development, and mentoring.
- Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Ensure the Manufacturing Engineering team consistently delivers high standards of excellence.
To be successful in this role, you will need
- Proven experience in engineering leadership within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within a highly regulated environment.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline (or equivalent qualification/experience).
- Strong problem-solving and project management expertise, including experience with FMEA or DFMA.
- Demonstrated success in achieving LEAN, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement objectives.
- Experience working with ISO 9001/13485 and ISO 14644 for Class 7 cleanrooms
- Advantageous - Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD, with experience working within PLM systems.
