What you’ll do:
Responsibilities/Duties:

Facilitates process of patient management in the surgical center.

Participates in making pre-op calls to patients if possible.
-
Collaborates with the front office staff on intake process as needed.
-
Assists with pre-op assessment and teaching.
-
Plans and prepares for interoperative nursing care of the patient.
-
Functions in the role of Scrub and Circulating nurse.
-
Able to create and maintain multiple sterile fields
-
Provides equipment and supplies based on patient needs.
-
Performs sponge, sharps and instrument counts as required.
-
Administers medications and solutions as prescribed.
-
Performs in emergency situations.
-
Monitors and controls the environment.
-
Participates in maintaining and assuring proper functioning of equipment and sterilizing procedures.

Delegates duties only to competent appropriate personnel.
-
Performs responsibilities of post-anesthesia care and conducts discharge teaching.
-
Evaluates readiness for patient discharge and collaborates with the anesthesiologist in the discharge process.
-
Reports any potential or actual adverse event as appropriate.
-
Documents clearly and maintains the patient record.
-
Maintains pleasant and open communication with patients, families, staff and physicians.

Qualifications
Who you are:
Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
-
Minimum one year of recent Pre/Pacu nursing preferred.
-
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
-
Working knowledge of office equipment and Software.
-
Familiarity with HIPAA, insurance regulations, policies, procedures, and other regulatory policies.
-
Medical office procedures, policies, practices and medical terminology, telephone protocol and professional etiquette.
-
Understanding of electronic medical systems.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills (i.e. using expressive vocabulary that communicates a complete and detailed message, avoiding spelling errors, employing a respectful tone).

Ability to maintain enthusiasm while facing a high volume and a large variety of duties.

Ability and interest in learning procedures and software functionalities that could improve the effectiveness and efficiency of individual and department efforts.

Organized, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

Interprets, adapts and applies guidelines and procedures appropriately.

Ability to develop and maintain effective and professional working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers and the public by demonstrating empathy and tact.
