What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Designer position at Spitzer Industries?
Spitzer, a recognized industry leader in designing and fabricating high-specification equipment, is currently seeking a CAD Designer to join our team. The CAD Designer reports to the Design Manager and is responsible for IFA & IFC deliverables. This position will support day-to-day Engineering Department demands and select projects.
What Does a Week in the Life of the CAD Designer Look Like?
Serves as a senior designer on internally engineered/designed projects to develop IFA and IFC site and skid package deliverables.
Provide piping design models, general arrangement drawings, vessel and structural fabrication drawings, piping isometric drawings and checking for all issued drawings
Develop bills of materials with respect to piping models.
Demonstrate consistent attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to meet fast paced project deadlines.
Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from a Design Manager, Engineering Manager, or Director/VP of Engineering.
Required Education and Experience:- An associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an engineering and design environment.
- Minimum 10 years of professional design experience in areas of modeling vessels, skids, skidded piping and site wide ICP, detailed fabrication drawings for plot plans, vessels, skids and general arrangements, creating bills of materials, creating isometric drawings, and creating P&ID drawings.
- Proficiency in using project data management software such as Vault.
- Demonstrate knowledge of fitting, welding and assembly processes.
- Proficient in routing piping to the applicable code including ANSI, ASME, AWS and OSHA.
- Proficient with computer modeling software (CADWorx Suite and AutoCAD Suite are required).
- Proficient with NavisWorks and Isogen.
- Working knowledge and experience in Microsoft software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills while remaining creative and innovative.
- Ability to work multiple tasks with limited supervision to deliver assignments on or before their respective due dates.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone or as a part of a team.
- Understanding of good project and mechanical engineering management practices.
- Limited travel, some projects may require it.

Work Schedule
The Designer will work Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:30 PM. Spitzer currently runs two shifts, Monday through Friday with overtime on weekend work as needed. Late afternoon/evening/weekend hours may be required as needed. Work schedules may change to accommodate production needs.
