What are the responsibilities and job description for the Memory Care Coordinator position at SPJST Senior Living?
- Demonstrates knowledge about residents regarding background, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity and attention span capability.
- Coordinates all aspects of life for memory care residents including developing a personalized program for residents to.
- Encouraging participation, addressing individual needs, modifying activities as required.
- Responsible for identifying and meeting the needs of residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other memory loss problems.
- Work with residents helping them deal with various stages of memory loss.
- The goal is to create an environment that minimizes the risks and maximizes the safety and well-being of the residents.
- Serve as emotional support while maintaining a professional, warm, and caring relationship with visiting family members and for residents.
- Working with other staff members, volunteers, and families
- Ensuring the safety of participants during activities and addressing any concerns.
- Setting up activity spaces
- Cleaning up and putting away items used for scheduled activities.
- Perform dual tasks and work independently.
- Attend required on-going in-service training sessions and orientation.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that memory support programming is occurring and appropriate for residents.
- Motivates residents to function independently.
- Ensures that all Resident Rights and Responsibilities are protected and enforced.
- Ensures compliance with all state and federal rules and regulations of memory care.
- Establishes and maintains a close liaison with residents and families.
- Maintains all records and communications as required by state agencies.
- All other duties as assigned and support the resident culture of successful aging.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff and community.
- Shows consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrates positive attitude, and works well under pressure.

- High School Diploma
- Background in art and music preferred but not required
- Able to communicate effectively with residents, and family members.
- One-year experience in a social recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred.
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification through the State of Texas
- Texas Food Handlers Certification must be obtained within 30 days from the date of hire.
- Texas CPR certification must be obtained within 60 days from the date of hire.
