Job Summary:

SPL is growing and is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician - Energy in Anchorage, AK. The Laboratory Technician must be team oriented, proactive, and goal driven. This position will perform laboratory analyses as specified by method protocol and perform duties under the general supervision of the laboratory manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare data and reports for review by senior personnel;
  • Maintain neat and accurate records;
  • Perform routine maintenance for all SPL equipment used including PC, scanners, instrumentation, parts, fittings, and sample cylinders;
  • Perform sample and QC analyses as specified by the test method, and ensure that all relevant and/or required information is properly documented and recorded;
  • Perform review/interpretation of test results to verify that data is accurate and reasonable;
  • Perform analytical calculations for reporting data into LIMS;
  • Compare current data with historical data in LIMS to identify sample discrepancies and notify the client as necessary;
  • Perform instrumentation calibrations and/or basic troubleshooting as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ previous work experience desired;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and the Internet;
  • Ability to communicate effectively – both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and perform efficiently under time constraints;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task;
  • Must be willing to cross train as required.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or other science is preferred.

Relocation:

This position is not eligible for relocation.

Travel Requirements:

This position does not require travel.

Work Schedule:

This position will work 8 hours Monday-Friday in SPL’s Anchorage, AK location. This position is subject to overtime and weekend availability and participates in the on-call rotation for their specified lab in order to meet deadlines.
