Dog Groomer

JOB SUMMARY

A Splash and Dash groomer is responsible for grooming and hygiene-related duties for dogs at Splash and Dash Groomerie & Boutique. They must provide high quality customer service to a diverse range of dog owners, helping maintain and gain clients. Attention to detail is key to perform satisfactory grooming as it relates to styles and cuts for different breeds/client preferences. In addition, a groomer must maintain a clean work area, work effectively with team members, and efficiently manage their time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Move animals, equipment and merchandise up to 50 pounds;
• Use proper dog handling/safety procedures
• Follow dog owner’s preferences for style/cut, and communicate with business owner when this is not possible (for safety reasons);
• Use your knowledge and ability to correctly identify breeds, coat types, tools, and techniques to perform haircuts, styles and finish work;
• Make recommendations for styles, maintenance and products;
• Interact with clients to identify services and set expectations, when necessary;
• Assist with bathing tasks, as needed;
• Assist with training grooming assistants and bathers;
• Record necessary information, pertaining to a dogs’ groom (tools/techniques used), temperament and/or potential health concerns in the computer system, as instructed;
• Utilize and care for grooming tools including shears, clippers, blades, etc.;
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks;
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Willingness to learn new skills;
• A passion for animal welfare (must love dogs!)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Have a minimum of one year grooming experience or be a graduate of grooming school

• Part-time and full-time positions available.
• Business is open Tuesday through Saturday.
