What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Splashdown Beach Waterpark?
SplashDown Beach Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of all guests and themselves. Lifeguards should be aware of the serious nature of the job and must be self-disciplined, in good physical condition, and able to cope with special situations. They must be safety conscious and able to work outside in all weather conditions. Lifeguards interact directly with guests by providing courteous, friendly, and professional assistance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the safety and well being of guests enjoying the water park.
- Understands and applies all water park rules and regulations consistently.
- Provides assistance to guests by; Assisting guests onto tubes, lifting/carrying tubes to appropriate pools, dispatching riders down waterslides, assisting swimmers in distress in water and guests in distress on deck, assisting guests with lost items/children.
- Provides first aid in emergency situations.
- Project and maintain positive, professional relations/interactions with guests.
- Perform general maintenance and care of facilities and equipment as requested.
- Inspect and maintain attractions and surrounding areas, including but not limited to: Straightening up chairs and tables, cleaning surface areas as necessary, eliminating potential slip and fall hazards.
- Organize and stack tubes securely.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings, training programs and in-service training as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
- Must be 15 years of age or older. Previous lifeguard experience is preferred but not required.
- Water Park lifeguards receive training and certification through the StarGuard Elite certification program that is conducted by the park prior to employment.
- Ability to stand, walk, see, and hear for long periods of time in all weather conditions, this can include rain, wind, and heat.
- Personal drive, action-oriented, quick learner.
- Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced team environment as well as work independently.
- Must have a strong attention to detail and ability to follow-up.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, multi-tasking, planning and problem solving skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, retrieve a 10 lb brick from the bottom of a pool surface, and ability to swim 100 meter, ability to tread water without hands for 1 minute
- Ability to work outside for long periods of time in all weather conditions, this can include rain, wind, and heat.
- Flexible Schedule. Must be prepared to work weekends and holidays.
