Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teacher to join our Montessori team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fostering a positive learning environment and the ability to engage students across various subjects. This role requires flexibility and a commitment to maintaining the continuity of education in the absence of regular classroom teachers. Experience in Montessori methods and early childhood development is highly desirable.
*This position is VERY part-time, based around our current staff's schedules. If you are looking for something steady with guaranteed hours, this is not the position. This is an every so often (usually pre-scheduled days you would know about, or random days if a teacher is out sick/emergency).
Responsibilities
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure students continue their learning experience.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Educate students in accordance with established curriculum standards, adapting materials as necessary for diverse learning needs.
- Assist with classroom management and support students in their academic and social development.
- Develop engaging activities that promote student participation and interest in learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance during the assignment period.
Qualifications
- Experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in preschool or early childhood environments.
- Strong skills in classroom management to create an effective learning atmosphere.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and lesson planning techniques.
- Familiarity with Montessori methods is a plus.
- Understanding of childhood development principles to support age-appropriate learning strategies.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the varying needs of students.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Previous tutoring experience is beneficial but not required.
