Qualifications
- Valid teacher certification
- Master’s Degree in Counseling and Texas School Counseling Certification
- Ability to present information in a one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents and district staff.
- Knowledgeable about college admission and testing requirements
- Knowledgeable about Financial Aid including FAFSA and TAFSA
- Knowledgeable of Career and Military preparation
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use the district’s student management systems and technology platforms
Counseling and Guidance
- Coordinate campus Financial Aid initiatives including parents nights and FAFSA completion assistance and tracking
- Coordinate Spring Campus Decision Day to showcase senior students and their postsecondary or military plans
- Provide assistance with the development of campus CCMR documents and tracking
- Assist teachers in the delivery of CCMR related curriculum
- Guide individuals and groups of students to develop education plans and support career awareness
- Educate the school staff, parents and community about CCMR Readiness
- Maintain confidentiality of student records
- Attend professional development related to CCMR
- Plan school guidance activities to ensure that they meet the identified needs, priorities, and district objectives
- Track college acceptances
- Manage scholarships: including posting, advertisement, assisting students with applications, and tracking
- Serve as the point of contact for college and university representatives for campus visit and college fairs
- Serve as the point of contact for community workforce members for career fair and campus visits
- Organize and plan college and career experiences for students
- Assist with the development of a campus CCMR Educational Program for grades 9-12
- Plan and provide college and career based enrichments and support programs
- Coordinate CCMR PEIMS Data Entry
- Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people to enhance their work with students
- Maintain a communication system that effectively collects and disseminates information to other professionals as appropriate
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with with other school professionals and community resources
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, SBOE, and board policy.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations
- Administer and interpret result of Interest Inventories and CCMR related assessments
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
- Demonstrate high expectations for students
- Work collaboratively with others to support the district vision, mission, and goals
- Work collaboratively with administrators as a part of the campus leadership team
