SPM Resources is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Substation Engineer to join a rapidly growing Southeast Engineering firm. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design, maintenance, and operation of electrical substations. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other engineers, design technicians, and stakeholders.

This role will design and develop Electrical Substations. Responsible for the design and development of substation layouts and electrical schematics, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Perform thorough evaluations of existing substations to identify areas for improvement or refurbishment. Develop detailed specifications for equipment procurement and installation. Oversee substation projects from inception to completion, ensuring they stay on schedule and within budget. Conduct tests on newly installed equipment and systems to confirm they operate correctly and safely. Utilize data analytics to monitor substation performance and identify trends or issues. Ensure all substation designs and operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Create and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance of substation equipment. Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to address challenges and achieve project goals. Offer technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members. Identify and implement improvements to enhance substation performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with Professional Engineer (PE) license in any US state.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in substation engineering.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, substation design and maintenance, and familiarity with industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEMA).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microstation), data analysis tools, and substation design software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Innovative problem solver with the ability to work through technical challenges and improve procedures.
