Overview
The Assistant Merchandiser plays a key role in supporting the merchandising team in ensuring the success of the product assortment. This individual will be responsible for analytics, tracking and tactical execution in aligning and driving the merchandise experience for our business with key customers. This position will partner closely with the Brand Product Managers as well as other key cross-functional stakeholders to grow the business. The individual must be analytical, self-starter, a collaborator, a great communicator and have a strong desire to learn, improve and grow the business.
Job Responsibilities
- Product Selection & Assortment Planning:
- Assist in the development of seasonal collections, ensuring alignment with brand direction and market trends.
- Collaborate with the buying and design teams to ensure products meet quality, price points, and target customer needs.
- Help create and manage product assortments for various sales channels (retail, online, etc.).
- Develop and manage seasonal timelines from conception to production.
- Build and maintain seasonal line list and master data files
- Go-To-Market Strategies & Execution:
- Order and track salesman samples for upcoming seasons across all channels
- Partner with IDG team to develop and create seasonal catalogs across all channels; including catalog page maps, product information, image selection and color CADs
- Sales Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze sales data, inventory levels, and market trends to identify opportunities for growth or areas of concern.
- Help optimize product assortments based on data-driven insights and sales performance.
- Market Research & Trend Analysis:
- Stay informed on current fashion trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences.
- Conduct regular competitor analysis to ensure product offerings remain competitive.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with the buying, design, planning, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on product strategies and seasonal campaigns.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure the timely execution of product launches and promotions.
- Provide necessary support for any special merchandising projects, such as pop-up shops, online launches, or seasonal events.
- Administrative & Miscellaneous Tasks:
- Manage administrative tasks related to product assortments, purchase orders, and vendor management.
- Maintain and update product files, tracking systems, and reports to ensure data accuracy.
- Assist in product data entry, pricing, and SKU management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Fashion, Business, or a related field is preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in merchandising, buying, or a related area within the apparel industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other merchandising software
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Creative Cloud
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Knowledge of fashion trends, customer preferences, and competitor landscape.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a passion for fashion and product development.
