Job Summary
HOURLY WAGE: $17.91-$19.11 per hour Depending on Experience
Examples of Duties
(Duties may include, but are not limited to the following)
Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies quickly and effectively.
Leads and assists staff with basic duties, including cleaning and actively rotating throughout the week.
Enforces all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations.
Performs regular chemical tests and backwashes and adjust chemicals as needed to ensure water quality. Maintains chemical logs and record keeping.
Demonstrates strong skills of customer service at the facility including answering phone calls, being available to answer customer questions, and communicating with patrons on a regular basis.
Inspects the facility on a daily schedule and reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
Assists the Lifeguard Manager and the Lifeguard Assistant Manager in training and evaluating staff. Assists with conducting regular in-service training. Monitors and approves timesheets of seasonal lifeguards and swim instructors for accuracy of hours worked, breaks, lunch hours, etc. Implements and follows the schedule created by the Lifeguard Manager.
When the Lifeguard Assistant Manager and the Lifeguard Manager are not present, acts as the main supervisor of the facility.
May serve as, or coordinate closely with, the designated site-specific COVID-19 monitor to administer and enforce a comprehensive COVID-19 job site safety plan, consistent with the guidelines provided by the WA State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The job site safety plan includes such elements as PPE utilization, on-site social distancing, hygiene, sanitation, symptom monitoring, incident reporting, location disinfection procedures, COVID-19 safety training, safety protocol, exposure response procedures, post-exposure incident mitigation and recovery plan. etc.
WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR Additional employment option
While any aquatic facility team member is welcome to become a Water Safety Instructor, certified lifeguards are highly encouraged to assume this role. Water Safety Instructors (WSI’s) must be certified through the American Red Cross and are responsible for teaching Learn to Swim classes.
WSI staff typically have more work hours available to them each week than non-WSI staff, and WSI’s earn an additional $1.00/hour for all shifts.

CERTIFICATIONS:
Required: American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
Preferred: Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification, Lifeguard Instructor Certification
LICENSES: Must possess valid driver's license.

- Lift and carry 10-65 lbs.; ability to move freely throughout the aquatic’s facility
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, citizen groups, subordinates, other county departments and the public.
