Procedure Scheduler

Summary:
The Procedure Scheduler is responsible for coordinating activities related to scheduling patients and procedures, referrals, prior authorizations and insurance paperwork using a top-rated, customer service focus at all times.
Minimum qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of professional experience, preferably in the medical field
- Customer Service
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Previous experience as a procedure or surgery scheduler
- Experience with multifaceted online computer applications, preferably medical scheduling
- Strong attention to detail
- Communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Ability to be empathetic and resolve conflict/barriers
- Ability to handle difficult situations and escalate when necessary
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Contacting patients to conduct a pre-assessment by telephone
2. Taking a medical history and review of medications
3. Explaining the preparation protocols e.g., fasting, and liquid diet
4. Answering patient questions
5. Familiarity with medical terminology and medications are required
6. Performs other duties that may be assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Amount of time spent lifting or exerting force is about 50% for up to 10 pounds and less than one-third of the time up to 25 – 40 pounds. Rarely is there a need to lift more than 41 pounds.

Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an interior clinical office setting. Workflow may be demanding and chaotic at times requiring the need for multitasking. Exposed to patient population that can present a variety of contagious diseases, physical injuries and emotional states of mind.

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
