Description
The Business Administrator is responsible for overseeing the financial and business operations of the company while acting as a liaison between company staff and hospital administration. Reporting to the Company President and Board of Directors, this role provides strategic guidance, ensures operational efficiency, and manages the business office team.
Essential Functions
· Lead the business office team, ensuring alignment with leadership initiatives and goals.
· Oversee third-party billing companies and external contractors to maintain operational efficiency.
· Evaluate the company’s financial position, issuing reports on financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
· Control financial, patient account, and human resource functions, recommending process improvements.
· Provide strategic insights for the company’s short- and long-term planning.
· Communicate regularly with the President, Board of Directors, and physician owners.
· Participate as a key member of the leadership team to enhance organizational decision-making.
· Organize, prepare, and attend company meetings, including creating agendas, recording minutes, and distributing reports.
· Ensure proper accounting methods and internal controls are implemented.
· Oversee the timely filing of taxes, annual reports, and other regulatory requirements.
· Plan, assign, and evaluate the work of assigned staff.
· Assist with selecting and engaging external consultants and contractors.
· Coordinate hospital contract negotiations to achieve optimal financial and operational outcomes.
· Administer employee benefits, including managing open enrollment processes.
· Maintain and review insurance coverage, ensuring contract compliance and cost minimization.
· Conduct annual risk assessments to minimize exposure.
· Review and advise on company contracts.
· Monitor reimbursement rates and assist with payer contract negotiations.
· Manage the monthly payroll process for employees and shareholders.
· Ensure compliance with healthcare-specific regulations related to business, finance, and HR.
· Manage financial audits and maintain relationships with external financial entities.
· Oversee federal, state, and local compliance for financial filings and record-keeping.
· Assist with staffing management, including recruitment, onboarding, and compensation.
· Provide human resources guidance and policy development.
· Research and update policies and procedures as needed.
· Participate in educational opportunities to stay informed of industry trends.
· Lead special projects, identifying and addressing priorities.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Proficiency in financial management and analysis, including cash management and reporting.
· Strong understanding of HR standards and employment law.
· Ability to assess and improve organizational processes and practices.
· Commitment to confidentiality (e.g., HIPAA, proprietary information).
· Knowledge of healthcare regulations and reporting requirements.
· Critical thinking, initiative, discretion, and decision-making skills.
Required Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (MBA preferred).
· Proficiency in QuickBooks (required) and EPIC (preferred).
· Advanced skills in MS Excel and other MS Office applications.
· Seven or more years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least three in a leadership role.
· Minimum of three years of HR experience, including hiring and employee relations.
· Five years of experience in a healthcare organization (preferred).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
