Description
Provide after hours, weekend, and holidays response protection of school property, students, and staff under the direction of the Director of Safety. Observe and report incidents that occur on or near District No. 81 sites. Respond to district alarm activations and appropriately involve available resources to resolve the activation. Complete written reports on district incidents. Complete other tasks as assigned by the Security Supervisor or Director of Safety.

Responsibilities
Patrol Spokane School District No. 81 schools and facilities in a district security vehicle. In emergencies, prevent continuation of criminal activities if it is safe, or call police, fire department, or security supervisor when necessary. If destruction to property is observed, perform emergency clean-up or minor emergency maintenance until Emergency Maintenance personnel arrive.Respond to security alarms and monitoring systems at district facilities. Utilize security camera and access control systems and computers and train other staff members as necessary. Assist other staff members with alarm or security systems when applicable.Report appropriate alarm activation to police agencies or District No. 81 Security through phone, radio, or written means. Trouble shoot alarms or security systems after hours, if applicable.Conduct CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) surveys and run security system computer reports as directed.Carry district keys and employee access codes to facilitate appropriate after hour's entry to all district sites.Attend regularly scheduled district security meetings and training.Communicate effectively with the district alarm-monitoring vendor.Provide on site security services at the school district administration building as assigned.Develop and exhibit a working knowledge of district security systems, district sites with regards to security issues, and district emergency procedures.Qualifications
Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.High school diploma or equivalent required.Two years of college in police science or related field preferred.Security employment experience, military security, or other related experience preferred.At least 18 years of age.Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in written form.Basic computer skills preferred, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Internet, and knowledge or experience with alarms and security systems.Demonstrated ability to operate as a member of a team.Valid driver's license, good driving record, and access to personal transportation.Must be bondable.Ability to obtain first aid and CPR certification within 30 days.Willingness to work night shifts (swing or late nights), weekends, and holidays.Ability to pass Washington State Patrol and FBI background check.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, teachers, parents, and administrators while maintaining confidentiality.Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.Additional Information
