Then the Community Worker 1, SSP (Syringe Services Program) Navigator position with the Spokane Regional Health District is the job for you!

 

This is a dedicated Monday-Friday dayshift position and starts at $20.71/hr.

The SSP Navigator provides peer level assistance for People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) who may also participate in the SSP. Peer level assistance includes working with PWUD to identify immediate service needs and accompany PWUD to the identified service.  Priority populations are people systematically marginalized and underserved, people who are unhoused, people engaged in sex work, people involved in the criminal justice system, transgender individuals and men who have sex with men.

 

May directly provide client transportation to services. Transportation of clients is only authorized with the use of a company vehicle.

 Some Essential Functions Include:

  • Engage PWUD clients who need navigation services at the Syringe Services Program and Outreach/testing events. During the assistance period, the PWUD will be identified as the Assigned Person (AP).
  • Develop and maintain a collaborative, peer-based, trusting relationship with the AP.
  • If the AP is without stable housing or contact information, conduct outreach to locate them in the community - either to bring them to appointments or relink with them for service access. It is anticipated that 50% to 75% of AP’s will be experiencing homelessness, requiring extensive field outreach.  Outreach sites include shelters and encampments.
  • If the AP requests, sit in on the appointment to provide advocacy and peer support.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and insurance.
  • Ability to complete agency-sponsored venipuncture training within 6 months of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lived experience with homelessness or substance use.
  • Experience providing services from a strengths-based harm reduction framework.
