Job Title: Sanitation Worker
Department: Spokane Seed Co. Plant (Colfax, WA and surrounding facilities).
Reports To: Plant Manager
Employment Status: Full Time
Summary: Performs routine and widespread Sanitation activities throughout warehouse including Restrooms, Break rooms, Building, mechanical equipment, grounds, and clean-ups at sister stations.
Important Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
· Perform minor and major clean-ups of mess generated inside and outside of warehouse and grounds. (Major and minor clean-ups and sanitation duties are performed under the supervision of the Quality Systems Coordinator).
· Performs sanitary procedures on Bathrooms, break rooms, warehouse, grounds, and mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis;
· Cleans and maintains all elevator pits and tunnels at each Spokane Seed Location to keep material coming and going as smooth as possible.
· Help keep grounds and areas surrounding facility clean to deter and prevent pest entry.
· Inspects all fire extinguishers on a monthly basis, to make sure all fire extinguishers are functional in case of a fire.
· Checks, reports, and documents all Weekly pest control captures.
· Completes daily, weekly and monthly tasks on the Master Sanitation Schedule.
· Sweeps floors daily to keep area and warehouse sanitary and safe throughout day.
· Throws out trash daily, to keep lunch room and restrooms clean and free of odiferous odors.
· Responds to emergency clean-up requests as required.
· Assists with other job duties when staff is short and help is needed.
· Maintains records of Master Sanitation Schedule.
· Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required or when needed and helps in the aid of de-icing and keeping employees from slips and falls.
· Helps keep inventory of cleaning products and All PPE Materials
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
Preferably one year of responsible experience in general sanitation (cleaning, sweeping, shoveling); or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Good skill in the use of all tools including some hand and power tools.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple directions, minimum of short communication needed. Ability to write and communicate simple directions. Ability to effectively present information to Quality Systems Coordinator and other sanitation workers and/ or small group situations to other employees.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed by uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few solid variables in regular situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Forklift certificate (Internal by SSCO.) Will Train if necessary.
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; sweep, shovel, dust. The employee must frequently lift and/ or move more than 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the necessary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and rotating machinery. The employee is infrequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud;
Note: The worker will not be exposed to any piece of machine or equipment that he/she is not comfortable with. The worker will not be exposed to any machine or equipment that he/she is not properly trained on.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
