RATE OF PAY: $16.66 - $24.18 / PER HOUR

INTRODUCTION:
The Pauline Stearns Early Learning Center provides a safe and developmentally appropriate environment that is culturally relevant to children and families which reside, work, or attend school on the Spokane Indian Reservation. The primary emphasis of the program is to provide Early Childhood learning in an educational setting. The Early Learning Center promotes competence in our children, parent alliances, community collaboration and proficiency in our staff.
All active investigations resulting in removal of any minor child under custody/guardianship of employee will result in immediate suspension. Following completion of active investigation, any findings of child abuse or neglect will result in immediate termination of employment.
Employee is required to disclose any active investigations of crimes listed on the Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions (WAC 110-06-0120) during the interview/hiring process and throughout term of employment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Sweeps, mops, and vacuums all classroom, office, and public use areas daily;
· Waxes and polishes floors as needed;
· Shampoos carpeting as needed;
· Dusts furniture and equipment weekly;
· Washes windows (interior and exterior) weekly;
· Cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects restrooms daily;
· Stocks restrooms and classrooms with paper products and supplies daily;
· Cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects public use areas daily;
· Cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects kitchen areas daily;
· Maintains cleaning supply inventory;
· Vacuums and dusts blinds and window coverings weekly;
· Ensures entrances are free of obstructions for safety purposes at all times;
· Empties all trash daily;
· Maintains exterior cleanliness of the facility daily;
· Maintains organization of all storage areas as needed;
· Provides assistance to co-workers as needed;
· Provides a safe environment to prevent and reduce injuries of children and staff;
· Promotes an environment that contributes to good health and prevention of illness;
· Actively participates in ALL quality improvement endeavors, including but not limited to meeting Washington State Early Achievers minimum operating guidelines and Tribal Licensing requirements in regards to health and safety;
· Positively interacts with the children and their families;
· Maintains an open, friendly, and informative relationship with children and families; encourages their participation in the program;
· Performs as a team member to assure that productivity outcomes measures are achieved;
· Facilitates a friendly and constructive atmosphere in regards to relationships with all co-workers and clientele;
· Attends all staff meetings and designated training programs;
· Assists in preparing food for children and serve meals and refreshments to children as required by the minimum licensing requirements and/or the Child and Adult Care Food Program when necessary;
· Organizes, cleans, and stores toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas; maintains classroom upkeep and sanitization on a regular basis;
· Enforces all federal, state, and tribal regulations and policies with regards to the TANF and Child Care programs;
· Performs all work-related duties as required
Assists with other duties in the Early Learning Center as assigned by the supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Must have good communication skills;
· Ability to write reports, keep logs, work orders, order supplies, etc;
· Knowledge of material safety data and material safety data sheets;
· Customer and personal service - knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.;
· Experience in basic housekeeping and groundskeeping skills;
· Must be physically able to perform duties such as climbing, crawling, kneeling, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs;
- Must maintain confidentiality at all times;
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Must have a High School Diploma or GED.â¯
· Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position: sit, stand, bend, and walk for long periods of time; and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., kneel, bend, climb ladders, work in inclement weather, work in an environment subject to chemical cleaners, dust, allergens etc.â¯â¯
· Must be willing to work flexible hours.â¯
· Must be willing to assist in classrooms when needed.
· Employee must be willing to travel to all required trainings pertinent to position annually.â¯
· Successful clearance of criminal history and background inquiry—tribal, state and federal.â¯
· Successful clearance of National Child Abuse Registry and Neglect Data System.â¯
· Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License and ability to be Tribally insured
- Current and up-to-date immunizations including a current negative TB skin test, annual influenza vaccine, TDap in lieu of Tetanus vaccine preferred, Hepatitis B Vaccination—preferred and required within one month of hire date
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year work experience in the housekeeping, janitorial, or maintenance field preferred.â¯â¯
· Previous experience working with Native American clientele and understanding of their cultural needs preferred
