What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Manager position at Spooky Nook Sports?
The Security Manager will be the primary contact for Spooky Nook Sports Manheim’s safety and security policies, procedures, and operations. This will include overseeing all operations and strategy for the security department, creating operating procedures and emergency operations planning, building relationships with local law enforcement, and ensuring safety and security of all employees, guests, customers, and stakeholders.
NOTE: Because this position will involve routine interaction with children, all candidates must successfully obtain the following clearances PRIOR to beginning employment:
- PA State Police criminal history record,
- PA Child Abuse Clearance, and
- FBI Fingerprint-based criminal history clearance.

Essential Job Functions
- Direct the operations and development of the Manheim Security team
- Update, create, and document current and future processes and procedures
- Develop and implement annual customer satisfaction surveys related to the operation of the security department
- Attend weekly operational meetings
- Professionally develop security team members and ensure they are properly trained
- Ensure the security expense budget is accurate and addresses the needs of the department
- Develop and manage the relationships with local law enforcement agencies
- Respond to, and be the point of contact for, medical emergencies, fire alarms, altercations, and other response events
- Assist with investigations in a wide variety of topics including employee relations, guest complaints, and injuries
- Conduct physical inspections of property to ensure building remains secured at all times
- Manage security related systems including security cameras, access point permissions, and two-way radios
- Assist in providing training in the areas of active assailant, stop the bleed, CPR, etc.
- Compile statistics, data and operating reports to maintain or make appropriate adjustments to operations
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with guests, community stakeholders, organizations, partners and volunteers
- Distribute appropriate information to employees and guests related to security for special events, tournaments, etc.
- Provide onsite support for Spooky Nook Sports tournaments
- Serve on departmental task groups
- Stay informed of sport and recreation industry trends and happenings and react accordingly to keep Spooky Nook Sports safe and secure
- All other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- PISGS, OPOTA, PATH, OCAT, or similar certificates
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (i.e. Criminal Justice, Business, Emergency Management, education, etc.)
- An accumulation of at least 10 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or emergency management
- 21 years of age or older
- Dependable transportation to and from work
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Language skills: Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication
- Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position with any reasonable accommodations as necessary
- Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
- Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior management role with multiple direct reports
- Ability to visit sites and build relationships with community organizations
- Knowledge of operations for large, banquets, trade shows, corporate meetings, and youth travel sports
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team
- Passionate about guest service and advocacy
- Thorough knowledge of sales principles, brand, product, and service management
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public to serve as liaison to high profile members of the community and the tourism industry

Working Conditions
- Work environment: Upbeat, high-energy sports and event complex with heavy foot traffic and frequent large crowds. The team member is occasionally required to work outside where he or she will be subject to environmental conditions.
- Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to perform physical activity that includes moving about the work area, sitting and standing. The team member will be frequently required to bend, reach with hands and arms, lift, push, pull, talk, hear, smell, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
