PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Community Outreach Center Attendant provides conference room arrangements, event setup and other services related to classes and events at the Macomb Community Outreach Center.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists with Outreach Center operations, including but not limited to, opening, arranging/coordinating, and closing outreach center.
2. Assists with coverage of reception duties such as screening and receiving visitors and incoming telephone calls. Serves as a resource person for students, faculty, renters, testers, and staff by answering questions about programs and/or services with related forms and/or procedures, or directing questions to appropriate person and/or department.
3. Provides set up and tear down of facility as required, including setting up tables, chairs, and auxiliary equipment.
4. Performs light cleaning of facility and restrooms after and between events when janitorial staff is not available (such as replacement of paper products, emptying trash, etc.)
5. Provides basic information to visitors about usage of Outreach Center facilities.
6. Assists persons utilizing the Outreach Center facility in a variety of ways, such as setting up conference rooms as required and directing people to the correct conference room.
7. Works evenings and weekends as needed.
8. Locks and unlocks doors required for facility use.
9. Exhibits basic knowledge of technology and equipment utilized at the Outreach Center.
10. May perform pickup and delivery of items between college sites.
11. Reviews request for use forms to determine setup needs.
12. Assists with creating contracts and invoices for renters.
13. Effectively monitors upcoming events, ensuring contracts are signed, setup is scheduled, and equipment is tested.
14. Assists with entering data. This includes calendar scheduling and updating usage spreadsheets.
15. May assist with Pearson Vue testing.
16. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. 1. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
2. One year of related experience is preferred.
3. The ability to work ad hoc hours including evenings and weekends is required.

5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, instructions, and manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
6. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
7. Superior organizational, interpersonal, client service, and communication skills, is required.
8. Ability to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and a positive attitude is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Physical demands for this position include the ability to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, bend, push, pull, kneel, climb, use hands and fingers, and talk / hear for extended periods of time. This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry weight up to seventy (70) pounds without assistance. Vision requirements include the ability to view and read instructions and the ability to operate a vehicle safely.
The work environment for this position includes indoor work with rare extremes in temperature and noise. Potential physical risk related to lifting or moving heavy objects. Limited exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals such cleaning agents.
