Job Title : Grounds Maintenance & Equipment Technician

Location : Spoon River & Mackinaw Dells Rest Areas, I-74

Job Description :

We’re seeking a skilled and hardworking Grounds Maintenance & Equipment Technician to join our team! This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of rest areas along I-74 at Spoon River and Mackinaw Dells. In addition to groundskeeping and janitorial duties, this role requires mechanical skills to perform repairs on small engines, garden equipment, trailers, and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities :

Perform lawn maintenance, including mowing, trimming, and general landscaping.
Conduct snow removal to maintain safe pathways and parking areas during winter months.
Complete janitorial tasks to keep restrooms, common areas, and facilities clean and sanitary.
Inspect, maintain, and perform repairs on small engines, landscaping equipment, trailers, and vehicles.
Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring equipment remains in good working order.
Report and address any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
Ensure compliance with all safety and operational standards.

Qualifications :

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or janitorial work is preferred

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to repair and maintain small engines, garden equipment, trailers, and vehicles.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform repetitive tasks.

Compensation and Benefits :

Competitive hourly pay : $19.00 - $24.00 , based on experience.
