Responsibilities
Demonstrates commitment to Mission Statement of Spooner Health and Rehab Department.
Reports to work when scheduled and demonstrates flexibility of personal time when requested to come in on a scheduled day off.
Performs record keeping requirements of department.
Includes copying, scanning, filing, making new patient charts, entering patient data into electronic medical record and Excel data base, and checking mail.
Uses correct telephone and greeting techniques.
Always demonstrates good body mechanics.
Schedules patient visits, meetings, and miscellaneous activities. Maximizes openings in schedule for optimal productivity of therapists and adhere to frequency of visits determined to be appropriate for each patient by the clinician. Contact therapists if scheduling conflicts arise to determine if adjustments can be made.
Organizes personal time effectively to meet needs of department. Adjusts schedule as necessary to accommodate last minute changes.
Ensures adequate supply of fresh linen in the department. Changes linens and sanitizes any equipment used between treatments.
Ensures booths/treatment rooms are kept stocked with all necessary items.
Maintains adequate supply of Requisition and Inventory items in department as well as office supply inventory. Orders special request items after approval from manager.
Maintains safe and orderly department environment throughout the workday. Plans ahead for rooming of patients so they can be brought back at scheduled appointment time.
Maintains equipment cleanliness.
Assists with transfers/transports patients/residents to the department using safe transfer techniques.
May assist therapist in preparing and comfortably positioning patient/resident for treatment, assemble all necessary equipment and supplies for that treatment per therapists direction, and may assist therapist when dressing patients/residents getting off splints.
May cross over with Rehab Coordinator duties to cover planned or unplanned absences. Will refer to Department Job Guides for guidance as needed and reach out to Dept. Director.
Assists PTs, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, SLP and department manager in performance of other work-related tasks.
Demonstrates good judgment. Always seeks guidance as necessary for performance of duties, asks appropriate questions when in doubt, and communicates frequently with the therapist or therapy assistant. Always reports any changes in a patient’s complaints or behavior to appropriate staff.
Participates in staff meetings, continuing education programs, continuous quality improvement programs and quality assurance. Attends mandatory in services yearly, CPR, Fire, Safety, Disaster, and Infection Control. Complies with universal blood and body fluid precautions.
Adheres to personnel and departmental policies and procedures.
Determines age-appropriate interactions with patients from infant to geriatric within the scope of his/her job responsibilities.
Exhibits and promotes a positive attitude and outlook in the workplace and in the community. Demonstrates behavior that is conducive to the professional operation of the organization.
Participates in and is an advocate of departmental and interdepartmental communication within facility to facilitate improved customer services and patient outcomes.
Has awareness of insurance tracking and prior authorization for patient visits when scheduling. Stamps all incoming information received with date.
Adheres to facility and departmental safety policies. Notifies supervisor and any safety concerns/hazards to staff and/or patients/residents.
Successfully completes required annual job specific competency testing.
Work time is used productively, equipment and supplies are taken care of properly (cost conscience use of supplies, disposable/non-disposable/recycled), breaks and lunches are within the time allotted.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Completion of standard high school education.
- Ability to read, write, type, speak clearly, and follow directions.
- Ability to cooperate with other personnel and to work under direction.
- Demonstrates sense of responsibility of common sense.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Physical ability to walk quickly, push, pull, reach, squat and lift up to moderately heavy loads. Ability to grip, squeeze and pinch without restrictions.
- Familiar with computer use including Word, spread sheets and email.
- Willingness to learn and use Electronic Medical Record System.
- Willingness to ask questions when in doubt.
