ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

Sporting News is seeking an ambitious, motivated, and creative social marketing intern to join our social team for a paid internship starting February 24, 2025. The social marketing intern will help evolve and execute Sporting News social media strategy, develop unique content marketing strategies, and help curate multimedia assets using graphic design and video production.

Sporting News interns should expect to be involved in all aspects of content creation, from pitching ideas to managing the brand's social media accounts. Interns will also gain experience shaping breaking news coverage and creating and editing short-form video content.

WHEN AND WHERE IS IT?

• Dates: Feb. 24, 2025 - Aug. 22, 2025

• Pay: $15/hour, 40 hours/week

• Location: Remote or in our Charlotte, N.C. HQ

HERES A BREAKDOWN OF WHAT YOULL (PRIMARILY) DO

• Manage all Sporting News and brand-affiliated social accounts.
• Create and execute content marketing strategies for featured content and events.
• Identify opportunities within content and work with the design team to create supplemental multimedia.
• Produce original social content for Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
• Contribute social content ideas surrounding major events or trending news.
• Work on various projects assigned by editors.

DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS?

• Recent college graduate.
• Basic proficiency with Photoshop and video editing.
• Ability to work smart and fast in a digital environment.
• Know how to write clean, concise and interesting copy in a variety of digital formats.
  
• Working knowledge of U.S. sports and the U.S. sports media market.
• Solid understanding of best SEO practices.
• Be a team player, willing to work with editors and writers to produce quality content.
• Strong grammar skills, meticulous attention to detail and a firm grasp of AP style.
• Be flexible, willing to work a combination of days, nights and weekends.
