Sports Basement Long Beach/South Bay: Marketer
Sports Basement is looking for a rock star Marketer who can direct and implement community-based programs that drive new customers to our third location in Southern California. The Marketer will maintain and improve upon our existing marketing approach in SoCal, expanding into a new region for Sports Basement.
The Marketer role includes managing larger scale events, leveraging new corporate, community and school partnerships, identifying and attending community events and hosting in-store events that WOW and delight attendees. The Marketer has amazing communication skills (written and verbal), an aptitude for event planning, demonstrated enthusiasm for our products & wellness and excellent organizational and time management skills. The Marketer has demonstrated ingenuity in creating partner programs that are a win-win, dynamite hosting energy, while simultaneously understanding the dynamics of the business. We are looking for a candidate that boasts a strategic and analytical mindset that ensures our continued success.
Job duties:
- Work with the Director of Marketing, Sr. Marketer and Store GM to drive in-store traffic, via new business and partnership development, field event activation and community outreach and engagement.
- Oversee marketing partnership development within your scope of focus.
- Business Development: Strategically identify, analyze and secure new partnership opportunities.
- Leverage corporate, non-profit, club/league, professional and school partnerships to broaden our win-win ethos on a large scale/regional level.
- Support regional large scale events with company wide impact.
- Oversee field event activations within your scope of focus.
- Develop and host innovative in-store events that show Sports Basement to be “so much more than retail”. Curating well executed experiences for our community partners.
- Represent Sports Basement at community events. Continuously explore new ways for Sports Basement to grow both within the local community and nationally.
- Provide consistent engaging content for social media campaigns and posts.
- Contribute to large-scale efforts to reach and compel visits and sales from tourists.

Starting wage: $22-$33hr based on experience, plus bonus and benefits (see below).

Requirements:
- Excellent time management. Able to organize and prioritize the workload.
- Self starter with a strong work ethic and high productivity.
- Highly flexible and adapts well to a rapidly changing environment.
- Willingness to regularly work the sales floor, and in the field as we dive into a new market. This includes holidays and winter months.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays depending on what the store and marketing programs require.
- Commitment to doubling down and working the festive holiday season from Thanksgiving through mid-January.
- Solid analytical skills and a basic understanding of retail financial measurements.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and CRM platforms are a must.
